Black Caucus County Directors/CoDirectors Description
Black Caucus County Directors or Co-Directors are responsible for recruiting and building a network of local members and fostering relationships with local elected officials and community organizations in their respective county. The goal of the County Director is to become a valued resource for their county by building a strong team of Caucus members that will help to achieve the objectives of the Black Caucus as a whole. This will be achieved by organizing members through team leadership, encouraging membership participation, organize and promote events, communicating with Executive Committee and local membership in person, by telephone or Video conferencing, as well as conference calls. Lead local events such as voter registration, canvassing, MLK Day activities, and other tasks as required. Approved information can be distributed digitally or by hard copy to the network of associate and full members. and Lastly, County Directors are responsible for identifying potential candidates for elected and or appointed offices at the state and federal levels. Advising the party on a policy that affects the community
County Director Duties and Requirements:
- Foster relationships with local legislators and community organizations
- Responsible for Generating a minimum of $500 annually for the Caucus with a goal of $1000 (September to September)
- Funds can be generated in the following ways (a template will be provided):
- Solicitation
- Fundraising activity
- All requests for fundraising activities must be submitted to the Executive committee in writing for accountability.
- Criteria for anyone that will be collecting and handling money for the Black Caucus may be subjected to the following:
- A background check
- Having never been accused of misappropriation of funds
- Participate in an annual internal audit
- All Black Caucus activities must be pre-approved by the Executive Committee
- All endorsements for local and statewide candidates should be discussed and approved by the Executive Committee
- Generate Quarterly Reports that will be due two weeks before State Committee Quarterly Meetings
- The candidates for this role must be proficient with the following tools:
- Google Docs
- Microsoft Word
- Understanding of Powerpoint
- Willing to learn Votebuilder
- Computer literacy is a must
- Must be available to participate in Monthly Zoom team building meetings
- Developing and empowering leaders for Voter Registration, and canvassing
*Any activities in the name of the Caucus have to be pre-approved by the Executive Committee. If an event is held without the approval of the ED and or the Chair the sponsor is subject to immediate termination of their membership of the Black Caucus and criminal charges may be filed
